Aims of the Program
The aim of this course/programs is to provide an in-depth review of some of the major construction systems being used in the construction industry. Real-life application employed in recent representing projects will be used as part of the presentation materials to facilitate the sharing of experience by the speakers.
Upon the completion of the courses/programs, participants should be able to understand and appreciate:
– Related technologies & operation details involved in the highlighted construction systems
– How these technologies are applied in various real-life project cases.
– Integration of technologies in the construction of large-scaled & complex projects.
– The theoretical, financial, technical and managerial implications in the
application of these technologies or construction systems in real-life practices.

Talk 2 – Review of a world-renowned project in Shanghai – the formation, construction and development process for the venue of 2010 World Expo
Talk 3 – Review of a world-renowned project in Guangzhou – the formation, construction and development process of the new city axis and the nearby CBD zone in Tienhe District, Guangzhou
Talk 4: Review of some large-scale and representing heritage and revitalization project cases in China
Talk 5 – Review of some representing environment up-grading/regeneration projects in China (including cases in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing and Quizhou)

Ir. Wong is a recently retired member of the City University. Besides serving as a full-time academic staff in the University for 28 years, he also engaged as an independent researcher focusing on complex construction systems, infrastructure and urban development studies, both locally and overseas. In the past 15 years, he is frequently invited by many HK’s professional institutions as a guest speaker to deliver talks.
***Other specialist speakers (including RSE or RGE practitioners) will be invited as co-speaker from time to time to deliver talks.
This program is specially designed to meet with the CPD requirements of the HKIE, HKICM, CIOB, HKIA, HKIS, HKICW, ICW or other related institutions.
Target audiences are expected to be under-graduate, graduate or practicing engineers, surveyors, builders, planners, project/construction managers, supervisors, inspectors of works or safety officers, who are involved in the related professions or disciplines.
1. A 2.5-hour CPD certificate will be issued to participant for attending each talk.
2. Attendance certificate will be issued to participants with the attendance of at least 80% of the selected talks.
3. All talks will be delivered in Chinese and supplemented by English when needed (presentation materials will be in English in general)
4. All talks will be conducted in ZOOM-based format at the same time.
5. Presentation materials usually in PDF will be sent to participants after they attended each talk.
The entire Series of Program will be held starting from 31 March 2021 up till Mid of May 2021. Detail for each program series is shown below for information. Each talk is scheduled for a duration of 2.5 hour from 6:30 tp 9:00pm, including a 10-minute break.

** interested participants can register to join these programs or talks with a deadline up to 15 April 2021.
Important note: The talk will be postponed in the event of black rain-storm or typhoon signal No.8 is hoisted. Similar situation applies also to public holidays. Under such circumstance, the talk will be re-scheduled to the consequent week using the same time-slot.
